Improve your personal and professional relationship skills and become more effective in your communications with people who are elders. This course provides valuable insight into the elder life stage; the challenges of illness and loss, and the important therapeutic roles and boundary issues that can occur when working with elders.
This package contains two courses: Communicating Effectively with Elders/Seniors (8 hours) and Roles and Boundaries Related to Aging Clients (2 hours). Take each course when it fits your needs.
In this program package you will:
- recognize the most important tasks of aging,
- identify how to reduce relationship risks,
- list the steps required to build a “Climate of Acceptance”,
- recognize the key challenges of illness and loss,
- identify how to “age well” by being proactive,
- learn methods for strengthening intergenerational communications and
- recognize the essential, compassionate responses to illness and disability.
The Roles and Boundaries Related to Aging Clients course meets the NCBTMB requirement for 2 hours in Standard V: Roles and Boundaries.
