Fibromyalgia: Approaches to Healing
E1015 - Massage CE Program - 18 CE Hour(s)
Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) was recognized as a syndrome by the WHO in 1990. Sufferers from this complex syndrome can experience a wide variety of symptoms, ranging from headaches and fatigue to widespread muscular pain or irritable bowel syndrome. Fibromyalgia is the second most common condition encountered in clinics for the treatment of chronic pain. Because of its varied symptoms, different clinicians and therapists become involved in the treatment and management of Fibromyalgia patients.
Providing a comprehensive overview of this condition, this program aims to help massage therapists involved in the treatment and management of Fibromyalgia to better understand the syndrome and to provide appropriate treatment and management for their clients.
In this course, you will:
- identify key facts relating to the history and definition of FMS as well as its related symptoms
- recognize other conditions associated with FMS
- review causes of FMS
- differentiate between Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Syndrome
- learn effective multidisciplinary approaches to FMS and myofascial pain
- assess FMS and choose appropriate bodywork approaches
- review the latest research findings and how they relate to practice
- identify accurate record keeping related to FMS clients and your practice
